I am not a foodie, I don’t even really like food… I really just eat so that I don’t die. My friends make fun of me because I’m what they call a “plain eater”, meaning I don’t like to venture too far out of my comfort zone and normally whatever I order has special instructions. Only recently has that mindset changed and the catalyst in all of that is my wife. My wife enjoys good food and can appreciate the taste of certain things that I just can’t, but in turn I get dragged to all these random restaurants that I would never even consider going to.
I decided to start this site as a way to follow my adventure into the world of non-picky eating. I’ve already ventured way out of my comfort zone as my wife and I have been together for almost 12 years now, but we’re still trying things I never thought I would try, making things I never thought I would make and actually starting to take an interest in food in general. So we’ll see how it goes…
What you will find on this site are restaurant reviews, product reviews, tips on making food at home, recipes, travel blogs, and anything else related to food (and sometimes drinks) that I find time to write about.
What you won’t find on this site are quality photos of the food that I eat, unless it’s something we made at home. A lot of these food blogs have really well lit, nicely composed photos of the food they eat at these restaurants, but I refuse to take my DSLR, or even use my phone flash, at a restaurant for the sake of a nice photo. I get super annoyed by people using their flash to take photos of their food in restaurants, so I’m not going to do that to other people. So I apologize for not having the greatest imagery to go with the posts, but at least the images you see are 100% authentic. If you want to see a photo with studio quality lighting it’s not that hard to track down better pics of most of this food.
You will also not find biased reviews here. Unless otherwise specified, I pay for all of the products, restaurant trips and all of the food that is reviewed on this site, and because of this I am 100% honest in my opinion of the food, but again, it’s just my opinion, so take it as you will. If I didn’t like the food or the restaurant we went to, I will tell you. Now, that being said, there are instances where restaurants or companies reach out to me and want me to try their products, which they will send me for free (or pay for) in exchange for said review.
If companies reach out to me and pay for me to review something (either monetarily or in free product) I will mention it within the first paragraph of a review. I will also not positively review something just because they gave it to me for free. I will still give my honest opinion no matter what.
I don’t make a living off of this website (at least not yet anyways…) so I have no allegiance to advertisers or companies that solicit me to review products or food.
I will also never reach out to a company trying to solicit free products or food for my benefit. If you want to reach out to me, that’s great, but this mindset where people should give “influencers” or “bloggers” free stuff in exchange for “exposure” is absolutely ridiculous. I will happily pay for products and food in order to review them on this site.
So with all that out of the way, if you’ve got some incredible food (or drink) related product that you would like me to check out and write about, or you own a restaurant in the Chicagoland area that you want me to try, feel free to email me at email@example.com.
I can’t promise that I’ll like your food/drink, but I can promise that I will be 100% honest in what I write. So if you’re not comfortable with the fact that I may not enjoy what you offer, then this isn’t the site for you.
